THE CHILDREN'S SOCIETY - Our children are our future!
The Children's society is a national charity who rely heavily on donations from Christian communities like ours to fund their many projects to help and protect children of all ages and from all sections of society. Children who experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse; neglect or bullying - many of whom drift into crime, drug abuse, homelessness and may even attempt suicide, as a result. In 2002 the Children's society focussed on "bullying". Currently, they also have a project in Meanwood, Little London and Woodhouse aimed at fostering better parenting skills for families of younger children and another in Leeds called "safe on the street" which tries to protect vulnerable young people.
At Holy Trinity Church Meanwood, our annual Christingle service is "SPECIAL" in many ways. It is aimed at young people and their families, many of whom may not be regular church attenders. It seeks to explain, at Christmas, Gods creation and his love for us, by sending Jesus, the light of the World to share our suffering. The proceeds of the Christingle collection go to the Children's Society.
