The Choir
Holy Trinity Meanwood has a robed four-part choir that sings at our traditional services. The New English Hymnal and our own Book of modern hymns and worship songs are used in services. The choir is familiar with six different settings of the Eucharist, as follows: Appleford, New English Mass; Aston, The Order for Holy Communion; How, Music for the Parish Communion; Rathbone, Marlborough Mass; Rutter, Communion Service; Shephard, The Addington Service. Many anthems and carols are often sung, ranging from the sixteenth century to present day. Several members of the choir sing and act with various amateur societies and choirs - for example, Leeds Gilbert & Sullivan Society, LIDOS (Leeds Insurance Dramatic and Operatic Society), Leeds Children's Theatre, Leeds Festival Chorus, St Peter's Singers and Huddersfield Choral Society. Several of our choristers are instrumentalists. The church choir was affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) on 24 August 1940. Choir practice is on Fridays, during term-time, from 7:00 pm for junior and probationer choristers, then 7:30 to 8:30 pm for full choir. If you would like to be involved with our choir, then please come along to the Friday evening practice and introduce yourself to those present. Please check our calender to make sure there is a practice that night. |
