Readers
Readers in the Church of England are lay people called by God, trained and licensed by their Bishop. They lead worship, preach and teach about Jesus and the Christian faith and encourage effective pastoral care in evangelistic ministry. There are three Readers at Holy Trinity Meanwood (Fran Needham, Supo Ogunyinka and Sarah Orme). All three
Readers have a varied
ministry at Holy Trinity, including leading worship, preaching and
teaching. Fran leads our pastoral care team. Please contact Fran if you know of anyone in need. She also organises and leads Memorial services which are held three times each year for those who have been bereaved. Some people come to just one service whilst others come on a regular basis and each person is invited to light a candle in memory of each person who has died. Supo organises infant baptisms, leading special preparation evenings and rehearsals in church for parents and godparents. He also leads a monthly prayer meeting, to pray for the needs of the church, Meanwood and beyond.
Having links with other Readers in the Diocese is very important for all our Readers and this involves attending training sessions and meetings with the Leeds Branch of Readers and also other Readers in the Diocese. If you would like to know more about Reader ministry, please contact any or our Readers or the Priest in Charge. |
